Cleaning and Maintenance
In order for you to keep your jewelry looking its best, regular cleanings are highly recommended, and complimentary. Prior to putting anything into our industrial cleaners we check to be sure that all stones are tight and secure in their mountings, and that heat sensitive stones receive special treatment.
Polishing & Refurbishing
There are very few metals used in jewelry manufacturing that are resistant to scratching, tarnishing, and bending. Whether your wedding band is in need of a simple polishing, or you have an antique piece that is in need of a total restoration our experienced eyes for detail are sure to be able help.
Jewelry Repairs
Charlie’s Jewelry is proud to have one of the largest and most experienced repair shops in all of Hampton Roads. We have four talented full time goldsmiths on premise to handle any type of jewelry emergency. This covers everything from tightening and resetting loose stones, straightening and retipping prongs, ring sizing, ring reshanking, replacing heads, and chain solders to name a few. We guarantee our work for one year, and we do have a same day service available for most types of repair. This service does carry an extra charge which is determined by the extent of work being done.
Custom Designing & Remounting
Our workshop is capable of designing and making just about any item of jewelry you can imagine. Do you have some older settings that you don’t wear anymore because of either a change in style or personal preference? We can design a brand new piece of jewelry for you using your existing diamonds & gemstones. If you have an older setting that you would like to modernize we can duplicate most settings and alter them to your liking. We also design custom engagement rings and custom mate bands to conform to any other type of unique shaped engagement ring. Whether we start out by carving a wax to be casted or we start with raw materials for a handmade item, Charlie’s Jewelry can build it for you.
Appraisals
Our appraiser is an Independent Graduate Gemologist, (G.G.-G.I.A.). All appraisals are done outside of our location and fully insured. Appraisals are done per item. There are no bulk rates available.
Watch Repair & Cell Replacement
We offer several different avenues of service here. We work with a well qualified independent, full service watch maker locally, and/or we offer to send your watch to the manufacturer for certain makes. Most watch repair is done on an estimate basis so this can drastically vary depending on the watch brand and movement type, (quartz or mechanical). Watch battery replacement is done on site and in most cases can be done while you wait.
Pearl & Bead Stringing
Any type of pearls or beads can be restrung to any length or configuration you like, and they can be restrung with any material you wish.
Engraving
We offer our engraving services for most jewelry items and we have several scripts to choose from. Unfortunately larger items such as trophies are too big for our machine hold so please check with us if you’re unsure.
